This is so scary!
The stars of The Eternals were caught off guard while filming in the Canary Islands off the coast of Spain when a bomb was reportedly found on set.
While Marvel has yet to confirm or comment on the reports, but according to E!, ET shared:
“ET has learned that an unidentified object was found on the set where 2nd unit filming was taking place. Per safety protocol, the area was inspected and deemed safe, and production resumed. No cast was present, but crew were asked to clear the area while the inspection occurred.”
An insider spoke out to The Sun about the panic-inducing incident on Fuerteventura:
“It was obviously terrifying — the bomb could have been there for decades untouched but who knows what might have happened if it was disturbed. Some of the biggest stars in the world were on set and nobody was taking any chances. Fortunately, experts dealt with it.”
None of the cast of the film, which includes Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, Kit Harrington, Kumail Nanjiani, and Gemma Chan, have commented on the alleged panic.
In September, ET chatted with Madden, who will be portraying the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first openly gay character:
“I think it’s hugely important, just the cast is so diverse. I’m a white male actor and not in the majority of this cast. I’m the minority, which is important in terms of diversity in filmmaking. I think Marvel is really at the forefront of that.”
Miz Hayek also spoke about her exciting new role with the outlet, sharing:
“I’ve known for a long time. I’ve known since March. We have to keep it a secret and it kills you. It’s like the most amazing thing that can happen to you, but you cannot tell anyone.”
The 53-year-old continued (below):
“But Chloé [Zhao], the director, has approached the leadership a little bit more [with a] deeper connection. So it’s like a family and I’m like their mother, and they’re all beautiful in different ways.”
Hoping everyone is safe and things are back to normal on set after the scare!
